Founded in 2007 by designer Karen Young, Hammocks & High Tea is an organic home décor & personal accessories brand based in her hometown of Brooklyn, New York. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Fordham University. Prior to founding Hammocks & High Tea, she worked as a sales account executive in the fashion industry with brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Cavalli and Ferre.

Karen's desire is to create luxurious everyday products that articulate cultural, ethnic design in a modern manner. She is inspired by her grandmother (the embodiment of fusion with Scottish-Portuguese heritage) and influenced by her South American upbringing. The overall result is a line of eco-friendly contemporary goods infused with vibrant colors and prints using organic materials and water based, solvent free inks. The brand combines traditional Caribbean style with a modern aesthetic while integrating beauty and function.
